A Wedding Cake and Cupcakes

This past weekend a great friend of mine married her perfect guy.  The wedding was so much fun, with lots of tasty food (how can you go wrong with a Ukrainian wedding?), great friends, and an awesome reason to celebrate!

I was so honoured when they asked me to make the wedding cake and cupcakes! The wedding colour was orange, and while the bride requested vanilla and chocolate for the cupcakes, I was given free reign with the wedding cake flavours.

For the cupcakes there were chocolate and vanilla bean, with half of the vanilla dyed a light orange.  The same was for the frosting, some were frosted in chocolate buttercream while the rest were frosted with either regular vanilla buttercream or an orange vanilla buttercream!

How fancy are these cupcakes stands that were waiting for me at the hall? Wow!

Topped off with some sparkly orange sprinkles and pearlized white jimmies, the cupcakes turned out pretty cute!

For the cake I made a three-tier cake iced in white fondant.  An orange ribbon in the wedding colours was used for a clean and classic look, and fresh tiger lilies topped it all off!  For the cake flavours, the bottom cake was vanilla bean cake with lemon curd and lemon buttercream filling, the middle layer was dark chocolate cake with Oreo buttercream filling, and the top layer was chocolate and vanilla cake with a caramel buttercream filling! That is my favourite part of tiered cakes I think, all of the flavour options!

The bride and groom looked AMAZING and so completely happy.  I am so lucky I got to share this special day with them!

Congratulations again you two from John and I! We wish you nothing but the absolute best!!
