Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins

If there is one thing that is a staple at my house, it is Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins.  No matter how often I make them, it seems like my fiance has them eaten before they have a chance to even cool down!

This recipe is actually a low sugar version of the muffins, but it is the best recipe I have tasted so far. This recipe makes 12 muffins, but I strongly recommend doubling it every time!  I also like to make mini muffins, because they make an awesome snack for when you are on the go.

Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3/4 tsp baking soda
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 - 2 mashed ripe bananas
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  1. Preheat your oven to 375, and either grease your muffin tins or place paper liners in the cups
  2. Mix together the sour cream, sugar, egg, and vanilla in a medium mixing bowl
  3. Sift together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder in a second medium mixing bowl
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet, and mix well
  5. Add the mashed banana and the chocolate chips, and mix until the chocolate chips are evenly distributed
  6. Drop into the muffin tins and bake for 12 - 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean
Note: These muffins freeze extremely well, so if you have a bunch of ripened bananas, go nuts and make a huge batch!
